What is it?
It is a requirement of the counselling associations that members receive supervision, in order to maintain their membership.
It is an essential developmental component in the life of a counsellor whether they are new to the profession or have been practicing for many years and have had extensive training.
Supervision is not a managerial task in this sense but it is a way of both gaining insights in the way that counsellors work with their clients and of ensuring that their clients are getting the best possible therapy.
The process allows for discussing both the developmental needs of the counsellor and of the theraputic task whilst maintaining client confidentiality.
